NEW FEATURE - IT DOESN'T HURT TO BE BEAUTIFUL
|
An Interview with Dr. Elizabeth Chase
Elizabeth
Anne Chase, M.D. specializes in aesthetic medicine and cosmetic
procedures. Her skin rejuvenation center in Pacific Palisades is light
and bright and you feel lovely being around the beautiful people who
work there. She is a doctor, a mom and a champion-level figure skater,
and she understands the quest for beauty. We got in touch with Dr. Chase
as part of our research for "Stupid Things Girls Do to be Beautiful."
She offered tips to share with Young Angels and YA Emerging Artists
& Executives in search of cosmetic enhancements: "The body likes to
be able to change," Dr. Chase said, "You only want to do temporary
enhancements that still allow you to age naturally."
Do
your research and never go to anyone other than a qualified doctor-no
beauty salons or friends houses. Also, don't get your boyfriends name
tattooed on your arm at sixteen because he likely will not be your
boyfriend on the day you want to wear a beautiful sleeveless wedding
gown. Avoid anything permanent, because beauty trends change and
permanent fillers can have serious complications. Permanent fixes can
fix you in one part of your life--forever." For more info on Dr. Chase

On the Road with Brook + Debbie
|
Sometimes
people say, "Hey, Brook + Debbie, why don't you guys sell Krispy Kreme
donuts at your events?" Well the answer is that we're going to! This
is Brook and YA comedy faculty member Jose Velasquez investigating the
deals at Krispy Kreme Carson. If you go to Volume, you will see
donuts. So don't say there is no education reform going on.
BROOK + DEBBIE'S EDUCATION REFORM FOR DUMMIES: Miss Samantha Video
Watch our web site for our soon-to-be-released position paper on ed
reform. So many players. So much $. Short form: Testing is
over-rated and over-used and doesn't evaluate anything except how
complicated it is to test. Teachers are pretty good. Charter Schools
are not better than public schools. The teachers union is not the bad
guy. The Billionaire Boys are not the good guys. Smart kids who learn
anywhere-- learn anywhere-- but, the less wealthy the zip code, the
harder it is to pull that off. Kids who learn differently need to have
someone advocate for them or c) pray they don't get low-tracked in a
charter school. What helps kids learn is not old standards but new,
engaging ideas (see below). More to follow.... Meanwhile... back at
Young Angels, the inexpensive after-school program students actually
come to, here are our YA students at Animo Watts doing the event art for
the BIG COMEDY BLOWOUT. When parents buy tix to our
events and ask "Where does the money go?", they can rest assured that
it's going to inexpensive, cool, projects with actual teenagers.
